Cockpit Guardian: checking the simulator configuration
Cockpit Guardian is a Windows application for cockpit supervision. It compares connected devices with a saved configuration to help identify changes before a driving session.
Keeping a cockpit reference
The application saves a JSON configuration snapshot and checks it at startup or on demand. It compares serial and COM devices, HID devices and game controllers. The dashboard brings together device status and joystick order.
Monitoring and backups
Dedicated views cover USB health, logs and settings. The project includes detection of common simracing software and configuration backup export and import for Windows reinstalls. Restore operations create backups first and provide a rollback option.
Still in alpha
The repository identifies version 0.1.0 as alpha. Some hardware-specific restore paths still require validation on a real Windows cockpit. A mechanism being present in the software does not mean every hardware configuration is supported.
Documentation and development
The project uses Python and PySide6. The repository includes instructions for running the application, preparing its Windows installer, managing backups and integrating devices. It is released under the MIT licence. GitHub documentation remains the reference for its development status.
