Archive: the 2023 season mod for F1 22
This April 2023 video is an archive: I presented a mod that brought the 2023 season's liveries and drivers into F1 22 before F1 23 was released. An update added to the description on 11 August 2023 states that the method no longer works following an EA update, with Cheat Engine no longer working with F1 22 in this setup.
Two parts to recreate the 2023 season
The project combined two separate modifications. The season mod, used alongside Modular Mods 2022, changed the liveries and appearance of the cars. A driver-transfer tool used with Cheat Engine then changed the names and team assignments in Grand Prix mode.
I first showed the files and their organisation, then selected a mod package intended for a sufficiently powerful PC. That visual part did not update the team line-ups by itself: the drivers still had to be handled separately.
Rebuilding the teams in Grand Prix mode
The second half of the video demonstrated this work on the Grand Prix data. The changes shown included Oscar Piastri, Pierre Gasly, Logan Sargeant, Nyck de Vries, Fernando Alonso and Nico Hülkenberg. The aim was to recreate the opening 2023 grid in the previous game.
I then launched a Grand Prix to show the result. One limitation remained: having a driver's name did not guarantee the matching face. For Nyck de Vries, I explained that a character package from F1 2021 would have been needed to add his face; I did without it in this demonstration.
A procedure that became obsolete
The correction dated 11 August 2023 supersedes the explanations filmed in April. This page preserves the context and the principle of the setup presented at the time; it is no longer a usable installation procedure. The demonstration concerned Grand Prix mode and does not establish that its results applied to every game mode.
